T-Shirt Heat Presses
A T-shirt press, also referred to as a flat press or heat press, functions as a heat transfer device. It applies precise heat, at a designated temperature and pressure, within a defined timeframe. This process facilitates the transfer of your unique design onto various substrates. The specific combination of consistent heat, accurate time and even pressure is key to a successful end result.
As more than 80% of all transfer printable items are flat, it makes the T-shirt press the most essential piece of equipment for your heat transfer business. The market is saturated with a variety of heat presses—some good, some bad, some terrible. Some with support, some without. Owning a machine without repair or support services makes it less useful.
We here at JG Electronics have over 30 years actual experience with heat presses – We used to manufacture our own presses right here in South Africa from 1998 to 2003 and as a result we ONLY supply presses that meet our stringent specifications and which can be repaired locally.
Our heat presses come with instructions in English and have passed all the required SOUTH AFRICAN safety tests. We've discovered some cheap copies of our presses that have FAILED these tests.
Some sellers with tell you that a sublimation press is different to a T-shirt press. This is not true.
The two types of manually operated heat presses are:
- Clamshell
The press hinges upwards like a sandwich toaster – These are perfect for 90% of applications and generally cost less to manufacture. They come in 2 varieties – standard and high pressure. The high pressure is an absolute requirement for laser printed transfers. High pressure presses are a little more expensive, but a much better buy. - Swing Away
The press lifts up and the heat plate swings to the side – These can press thicker items than the clamshell variety and they have more even pressure (critical for some niche laser transfers).
